Holiday Organizing

The holiday season is upon us and many of us will experience the joy of decorating in preparation for celebrations with friends and family.

No matter what holiday we celebrate, we unpack our decorations and we will inevitably go out and buy new ones. We aren't thinking about how we are going to store them after the party's over. Our thoughts are on having a beautifully set table, or a perfectly decorated tree, or expertly wrapped gifts. We even decorate our cars, our doors and our dogs. It's fun, it's festive and we love the feeling that comes with this time of year.

But, I bet you didn't know that this is also the perfect time to prepare for how you are going to store your decorations for next year. And, you will probably have more to store than last year, so start your post holiday organizing early and make packing things away easier because that's never the fun part.

There are many wonderful ways to protect and preserve your holiday decorations so we are listing a few for your consideration when you are out buying those new holiday treasures:

There is nothing enjoyable, no matter how much you love to decorate, than to deal with lights that have been thrown into a box when the tree is taken down. Never deal with tangled lights again. There are wonderful boxes that make it easy to store and easier than ever to use again.

Damage to your precious ornaments can be avoided if you store them in cases and boxes especially designed just for that purpose.

You might hang delicate wreaths and garland never giving a thought to how to protect them. Containers like this one, are plentiful and inexpensive.

If you have an artificial tree, you most often will reuse the boxes they come in. But, they can get torn after years of use. So buy bags that are resistant to moisture and sturdy enough to withstand time.

Gift wrap can be difficult to store. There are many options out there, though, that will keep your papers and bows from getting ruined. Plus these containers can fit nicely under a bed or on an overhead closet shelf.

If you save greeting cards, look for boxes that are unique making it enjoyable to go through your favorite memories time after time.

Store your favorite holiday music and movies in their own separate containers. When you store them along with your other holiday things you reduce the space you have for your day-to-day favorites.

Even your holiday dishes can be protected from possible breakage and discoloration.

There are a vast array of clear plastic containers for organizing other items like; tree skirts, hand towels, pot holders, candles, books, etc. Organizers on wheels is ideal if you have limited space.

And, last, but certainly not least. Clear totes are convenient and easy storage for most everything. Just buy only one size to make stacking simple and relocating lighter.

Simply search for Holiday Storage Ideas and you will be rewarded with options that you may have never realized were out there. Keep in mind, that just because you find it online doesn't mean you have to buy it online. You could save on shipping by doing the research online and then finding them in a store nearby.

Have fun with your decorating, but think ahead while you do your holiday shopping.

It's as simple as that!
